Preparing for the trip - an uphill climb

There were mountains to climb to get on this trip. The fight actually began about a month before. The "nipping at the heels" was incredible. I felt every day like I was hacking through a jungle and that everything was harder than it should be with little time to come up for air. On top of many responsibilities and deadlines with our work, our new wifi and my computer failed completely and then my phone became erratic. Even a week before leaving the battle became so intense that we considered canceling. However, after about four hours in prayer the word was that there was opposition and that there might continue to be a headwind, but that I was still to go.
The hardest part of all, though, was for Robert and I to leave each other. We do everything together and have been overseas together many times in years past but after much prayer it became clear that he was not to go but to stay with my sister and her husband, Don and Karin. However, it also became clear that Robert place in the trip was vital: intercessory prayer. He began to step into that place days before - entering into spiritual warfare sometimes several times a day.
Just a couple of days before leaving town we created bookmarks and photo books for Latvia. Very thankful for Rachel Tapia's assistance as well as several others. It was definitely a "Last Minute Morey Production". Couldn't have done it without their help!
My friend Bonnie told me that she felt my father would be with me every moment of this trip. I believe that heaven is closer than we think and that sometimes the citizens of the church triumphant may be allowed to look into the affairs of the church militant.
Two days before leaving we checked into a bed and breakfast in Ohio to focus on each other. We enjoyed every minute, including putting up our hammocks by the beautiful river, having a picnic, eating ice-cream and meeting a bard on a barge during a canal/lock tour. We had multiple divine appointments which I will not outline here but that could be part of the bigger picture of what God is doing. There was a stone plaque when we first walked into the Airbnb having daddy's life verse, "He shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways." Another hint that God was with us on the trip and maybe a wink from daddy.
